The Marinferno winery is a young and innovative establishment with a solid experience in the agricultural sector under its belt. The name, in fact, is nothing other than the anagram of the Monferrina agricultural company. The project was born in 2016 to renovate an old winery in the Colli Piacentini area, owned by the Sforza Fogliani family since the distant 16th century. This is a winery that is recognised as "historic" in the area, as it has always cultivated vines and produced wine. Until the beginning of the 20th century, the estate sold its grapes, then after World War II it began selling wine on tap and finally in the 1970s, it decided to bottle it under the name of Monferrina.

The estate is located in the countryside of Vicobarone, in the Tidone Valley, a few kilometres away from the Oltrepò Pavese area. The splendid exposition of the hills, which rise towards the first pre-Apennine mountains, and the presence of a mild and always ventilated climate, have for centuries been a perfect habitat for the vine, which has inhabited this region since ancient times. Marinferno was born to offer a new vision, combining the traditions of agriculture with a new approach to sustainable viticulture and tourism. The property cultivates around 10 hectares of vines on two farms, Badenigo and Solana, at an altitude of between 160 and 250 metres above sea level, and with south-east and south-west facing exposures.

Following the principles of eco-sustainability, the vineyards are currently being converted to organic farming so as to definitively eliminate the use of chemical substances. In line with the ancient traditions of the area, the vines that have been present in the Piacenza area for centuries are grown on the estate: Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, Ortrugo, Barbera, Croatina and the international Pinot Noir, which has adapted well to the area's climate. Production has preserved an artisanal style, thanks to cellar practices that are very respectful of the grapes and carried out with minimal intervention. This results in genuine wines that are a true reflection of the terroir.
