The 'Sirios' is an intense red wine with good structure, produced in Chile by the small winery Clos Santa Ana. It is an artisanal wine, meticulously crafted with great passion, that looks towards the great Bordeaux models from the New World. It is, in fact, a balanced and harmonious blend of various French red grape varieties that have found particularly favorable pedoclimatic conditions in South America to produce great wines. It is a bottle made in limited quantities and aimed at an audience of enthusiasts in search of rarities, labels that break the mold, and far from a certain homogenization and standardization of taste that has also affected the wine world.
The red 'Sirios' from Clos Santa Ana originates in one of the most interesting and suitable areas of the Chilean vineyard. The small estate, covering about 1.3 hectares, is located in the heart of the Colchagua Valley, in the central area of the country. The particular geographical conformation of Chile, which occupies a narrow strip of land running north to south between the Pacific Ocean coast and the Andes mountain range, creates climatic conditions particularly favorable for viticulture, with mild temperatures and significant temperature variations. The vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Carmenere are cultivated with the utmost respect for nature, under organic farming practices. Once the harvest operations are completed, the separate vinification of each variety takes place, with classic fermentations involving skin macerations. Before bottling, the wine ages for several months in old barrels, which allow for micro-oxygenation without imparting woody notes.
The 'Sirios' wine from Clos Santa Ana is an important and intense red, elegant and long-lived, that expresses very well the typical varietal characteristics of some of the most famous Bordeaux grape varieties. It presents itself with a color of deep red with bright violet reflections. The olfactory profile is characterized mainly by aromas of black currant, wild blackberry, cherry, blueberry, balsamic hints, herbal notes, spicy nuances, and a slight woodiness. With remarkable structure, it has complex and deep aromas, wrapped in a dense and evolved tannic weave, which offers a harmonious, long, and pleasant. The finish is fresh and very persistent.
