Clos Santa Ana

Clos Santa Ana is a small Chilean winery located in the Colchagua Valley, one of the most suitable regions in the country for viticulture. It is a very unique estate, created in 2012 by Roberto Ibarra García and Luiz Antonio de Gracia Allegretti. It is a true Boutique Winery that produces few bottles of extraordinary quality, which are literally snatched up by enthusiasts and collectors in search of rarities. An exclusive project that goes against the trend of what is usually expected from South American wines. Nothing to do with standard productions of international character destined for large foreign markets, but bottles of artisanal style that represent the excellence of a great terroir.

The Colchagua Valley is located in the central part of the country, about 40 kilometers south of Santa Cruz and is one of the main and oldest wine regions in Chile. It developed mainly during the 19th century. Its climate is warm and always very windy, refreshed by the cold air currents that descend from the high peaks of the Andes and mitigated by the breezes of the Pacific Ocean that deeply rise into the inland. Thanks to these favorable conditions, the grapes reach full ripeness with very rich and intense aromas. The soils are quite heterogeneous, but all very suitable, with volcanic components, limestone, and alluvial deposits of sand and pebbles, which make the soils very draining and keep the vines dry and healthy.

The estate has a truly tiny area, only 1.3 hectares, planted with 10,000 vines. The agronomic management is very attentive and respectful of the environment and is carried out according to the principles of organic farming with the use of biodynamic practices as well. The work between the rows is done manually with extreme care, as are the harvests. The cultivated grape varieties are the classic international varieties of French origin: Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Chardonnay, Viognier, and Carménère, which has found a true second homeland in Chile and expresses itself at excellent quality levels, with winesintense, complex, and elegant.
