The Susumaniello from Salento 'Askos' by Masseria Li Veli is a Rosé of great softness and expressiveness. Made with an indigenous variety from the Salento area, this wine is characterized by typical fresh notes of rose and peony, fruity aromas of strawberry and raspberry, and savory hints that evoke the sea, making this Susumaniello rosé the perfect companion for a pasta with scorpion fish ragù

The Susumaniello del Salento ‘Askos’ Rosé from the winery Masseria Li Veli is a bottle to be appreciated for its flavorful and refreshing drinkability, ideal for alleviating the summer heat. The relationship between Puglia and rosé wines is a love marriage that has become an integral part of the enological history of the region, where some of the best rosés in all of Italy are born. This success is due to the propensity of certain local varieties to be vinified as rosé, including Negroamaro, Primitivo, and, indeed, Susumaniello, as well as the pedoclimatic characteristics of some areas, capable of imparting the pronounced salinity that these wines possess.

The Salento Susumaniello Rosato Masseria Li Veli ‘Askos’ is a 100% Susumaniello from vines aged between 10 and 20 years, cultivated using the spurred cordon system on clayey and sandy soils with calcareous residues. The harvest is typically carried out in mid-September, with the bunches then transferred to the winery where they are vinified through 7 hours of skin maceration directly in the press at controlled temperature, just enough to extract the aromas and the desired color. The subsequent alcoholic fermentation of the must takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the same type of winemaking containers where the wine remains to mature for several months.

The Salento ‘Askos’ Susumaniello Masseria Li Veli Rosato has a beautiful bright coppery pink hue. On the nose, one can perceive pleasant hints of red fruits and flowers such as wild strawberries, raspberries, peony, and fresh rose. Refreshing and very smooth tasting, characterized by a slight tannic perception that is accompanied by a pronounced marine salinity in a progression of rare pleasantness, with a finish that evokes the floral notes of the nose.
