Sylvaner Nossing 2024
The Sylvaner by Nossing is a wine of great clarity, precision, and verticality, vinified and aged in steel. It releases delicate and elegant aromas of flowers, apples, and medicinal herbs. On the palate, it is rich, tense, and refreshing, with great aromatic cleanliness.
The Sylvaner from the Alto Adige producer Manni Nossing represents an expression with a fresh and sharp character produced in the Isarco Valley following a sustainable viticulture approach. The small winery managed by Manni Nossing is located in Bressanone, a few kilometers from the border with Austria, in an area characterized by a typically alpine cool climate. Descending from a family of farmers, in 1999 Manni made the decision to start bottling the wine under his own label instead of selling it to the local cooperative, also replacing the estate's orchards with vineyards. Today, the cultivated hectares are just over 5, mainly dedicated to white grape varieties of the Alto Adige tradition, including Sylvaner, Kerner, and Muller-Thurgau.
Manni Nossing Sylvaner consists of only grapes of the same-named white variety grown on sandy and granitic soils of morainic origin. The vines are over 30 years old and are located between 660 and 700 meters above sea level. After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, with the must that is left to decant naturally for 24-48 hours. The subsequent alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the same type of wine containers in which the mass remains to mature for about 8 months on the fine lees before bottling.
Visually, the Sudtirol Sylvaner by Manni Nossing presents a straw yellow color with gold-green reflections. On the nose, fruity, floral, and vegetal aromas emerge, which translate into sensations of wildflowers, medicinal herbs, citrus, and renetta apple. The taste is full and rich, while also decidedly fresh and tense, endowed with excellent structure and lasting mineral persistence.
