TIMORASSO 'TIMOX' I CARPINI 2020 DESCRIPTION

I Carpini's Timorasso "Timox" is a white wine of great caliber and personality, an authoritative witness to one of Italy's best white grape varieties. If we were to think of a long-misused grape variety capable of giving life to some of the most exciting and multifaceted Italian white wines, we could only mention Timorasso, a Piedmontese grape with incredible potential. This is well known by Paolo and Maddalena Ghislandi, owners of the I Carpini winery and a true icon of Colli Tortonesi, capable along with a few other producers of making the area's potential known to the public by virtue of deep and long-lived bottles. A biological-holistic approach in the vineyard is matched by an equal sensitivity in the cellar, and the wines are original and of great personality, thanks to the contribution of maceration on the skins. Great terroir wines, among some of the most interesting in the region and beyond.

"Timox" I Carpini, as the name suggests, is made from pure Timorasso grapes from a selection of different plots located at 380-420 meters above sea level with east/southeast exposure. The approach in the vineyard and in the cellar is consequential, so to an agriculture that does not involve the use of chemical or synthetic substances, correspond subsequently spontaneous alcoholic fermentations and in the case of Timox, long maceration in drained tanks and refinement of several months in ceramic amphorae.

The wine "Timox" presents itself in the glass with an intense golden color tending to orange. The nose is complex, rich and extremely varied, with hints ranging from acacia honey to cinnamon, from orange peel to medicinal herbs. The sip reveals the essence of the grape variety, and is thus broad and persuasive but balanced by just the right amount of freshness and a delicate tannic friction.
