Artisanal
Organic and biodynamicTinto 'La Pell El Vinyet' from the La Gravera winery is a red wine that combines character and elegance, perfect for accompanying meat dishes and surprising guests. It is made from a blend of several hand-selected red grapes and is aged for 6 months in clay barrels. The intense ruby red colour reveals aromas of red fruits, fresh flowers and sweet spices while the palate enjoys a rich, soft, fine and long sip
The Tinto “La Pell” represents the utmost expression of the terroir in which Lagravera is fortunate to conduct its artisanal activity. El Vinyet is literally “the vineyard” par excellence, a monumental plot that tells the story of viticulture: it is populated by ultra-centenarian vines that represent the first attempts at repopulation after the devastation of phylloxera, through grafting onto the American rootstock Rupestris de Lot.
Lagravera brings to life its “La Pell El Vinyet” by vinifying a handful of 10 different red and rosé berries, harvested from the 24 grape varieties that make up this plot planted in 1889. Trobat Negre, Monastrell, Garnacha Tinta, Mandó, Picapoll de la Noguera Rosado, Isaga, Moscatel Rosado, along with the variety X8, still unnamed and present only here, are cultivated according to a strict biodynamic regime in the area of Castelló de Farfanya, in Catalonia, in the deep inland of Tarragona. These 0.95 hectares extend to an altitude of about 450 meters, over soils characterized by gravel and sand and isolated from Mediterranean influences due to the heights of the Sierra LLarga and the southernmost Muntanyes de Prades. The harvest is done by hand, with careful selection of the grapes which, once destemmed in the cellar, are pressed directly into terracotta amphorae made with the clay from the vineyards. The alcoholic fermentation occurs through the action of indigenous yeasts and the maceration on the skins lasts for a very long time, interspersed with periodic manual punchdowns. The malolactic fermentation takes place spontaneously and the aging always proceeds in amphora, for a period of 6 months. The Tinto is bottled without resorting to filtration or other invasive operations.
The Tinto “La Pell El Vinyet” presents itself with a peculiar bright ruby red color. The aromas are pronounced and complex, characterized by a clear introduction of rose petals and a sweet fruity note of strawberry, while being enriched with spicy tones and hints of pastry. The sip is of extreme elegance and balance, composed of pulp and very fine tannins that accompany the verticality of freshness and minerality.
