The Pettirosso Valtellina Superiore by Ar.Pe.Pe. is a Valtellina red wine made from Nebbiolo grapes, locally known as Chiavennasca. With an apparently simple organoleptic profile, it faithfully expresses the terroir of Valtellina, playing on the nose with fine and elegant notes of fresh dark fruit and cherries in alcohol, with hints of humus and undergrowth. On the palate, it is clear, with great harmony and pronounced mineral and savory notes, framed by a long fresh and spicy finish.

dry stone walls that the steep slopes of the mountain have developed viticulture over the centuries. This is heroic viticulture, with all manual labor and harvests, requiring a lot of effort and many hours of work. The vineyards are located at an altitude between 400 and 500 meters above sea level, on soils rich in skeleton and with bedrock often exposed. The harvest takes place in the second half of October, and the grapes ferment in 50-hectoliter wooden vats with skin maceration for about 3 months, using only indigenous yeasts. The wine rests in 50-hectoliter wooden vats and barrels for 12 months.

The Valtellina Superiore "Il Pettirosso" by Ar.Pe.Pe. is an ideal label to understand how Nebbiolo expresses itself in the Valtellina territory and to appreciate its particular mountain characteristics. The wine has a garnet red color. On the nose, it expresses a bouquet of small berries, cherry, fruit in spirit, licorice root, and delicate spices. The taste is long and intense, with complex aromas, a fine, evolved tannic texture, and a pleasantly fresh finish.
