Vermentino 'Balbino' Terenzi 2024
The Vermentino "Balbino" from the Tuscan winery Terenzi is a delicate and fragrant still white wine suitable for any occasion. The homonymous grapes grown on the calcareous soils of Maremma are carefully selected before being vinified in purity and aged in steel tanks. The color is deep straw yellow and the aromas released are sweet, reminiscent of typical hints of pear and white flowers. The sip has an excellent nose-palate correspondence and reveals itself fresh, harmonious, and balanced
The Vermentino "Balbino" from the Terenzi winery is a sunny and harmonious white, perfectly expressing the Mediterranean character of the Tuscan Maremma. A grape variety that loves wind and sun, it is found in Liguria, Sardinia, Corsica, and southern France under the name Rolle. Along the Tuscan coast, it has been at home for centuries and represents the most traditional and typical white of the territory. Its balanced, floral, and fruity character is enhanced by a delicate vinification in steel, which preserves the clear varietal fragrance of the grapes intact.
The white Vermentino "Balbino" is born in the Scansano area. The Terenzi family manages a wonderful estate of 160 hectares, of which about 60 are dedicated to viticulture. The Vermentino grapes come from different vineyards on the estate, cultivated in the sunny area of the gentle hills of the first inland of the Tuscan Maremma. The medium-textured soils, rich in limestone, and the warm, breezy climate are perfect for this grape variety with a typically Mediterranean and marine character, which especially loves coastal areas. The harvest takes place around mid-September, and the ripest and healthiest bunches are gently pressed. The free-run must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 18 °C. Before bottling, the wine matures for a few months in steel tanks.
The Vermentino "Balbino" from Terenzi is a white that captivates with its balance and pleasant taste. A perfect interpreter of the tradition of Tuscan coastal whites, it pairs very well with seafood pasta dishes, pasta with clams, seafood, and grilled fish. To be tried with fresh or lightly aged pecorino. It presents itself visually with a light yellow color, bright reflections, and slight golden hues. It seduces the nose with a bouquet of delicate aromas of acacia flowers and hawthorn, hints of orange blossom and citrus peel, aromas of white-fleshed fruit, pear, melon, and nuances of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean scrub. Elegant and harmonious, it has a sip of delicate, soft, and ripe fruit, well balanced by a pleasant savory trail and a finish of good freshness.
