The Vermentino from Rocca di Frassinello is a white wine from Maremma characterized by sapidity, agility, and freshness. On the nose, it recalls Mediterranean scrub, fresh citrus, and white-fleshed fruit, with light marine notes. The palate is balanced, sleek, and slender, endowed with a lively and vibrant freshness.

The Vermentino from Rocca di Frassinello is the only white wine produced by this winery with a broad Italian-French breath. Rocca di Frassinello, in fact, in its almost 90 hectares of vineyards, hosts both local grape varieties and their cousins from across the Alps, which contribute to the blends necessary for the production of almost all the bottles. The structure of the winery was designed by the famous architect Renzo Piano, who has enhanced its functionality, revolutionizing its layout and centrally placing the heart: the barrel cellar, where the wine elevates itself while remaining underground, to keep temperature and humidity controlled. Rocca di Frassinello is located in the heart of Maremma, between Bolgheri and Scansano, and shares the geological characteristics of the Chianti and Montalcino regions, with clay soils rich in skeleton, but the average temperature is higher, therefore ripening is anticipated by a month.

Rocca di Frassinello welcomes the Vermentino in the winery during the first half of September. The grapes are brought in small crates to the sorting tables, avoiding the use of pumps that would cause them stress, deteriorating their quality. Fermentation and malolactic fermentation take place in stainless steel at controlled temperature and, once completed, the wine undergoes aging for at least 6 months always in stainless steel and then in bottle.

The Vermentino wine from Rocca di Frassinello is a greenish white with straw-yellow veins and delicate floral notes that, alongside citrus nuances, announce its invigorating freshness detectable on the palate. The pleasant minerality and sapidity, typical characteristics of the grape variety, make it a very versatile persistent white, easily paired with grilled fish dishes or white meats. The Vermentino grape has found in Maremma Toscana its ideal land, a brilliantly successful experiment.
