Vosne Romanée 'Quartiers de Nuits' Domaine de Bellene 2019
Artisanal
Callmewine's FavouritesThe Vosne Romanée "Quartiers de Nuits" from Domaine de Bellene is a full-bodied, intense red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes from 90-year-old vines, vinified and aged in oak barrels. Richness, structure and aromatic concentration are its characteristics, with fruity and floral notes of ripe fruit, spices and wild roses
The Vosne Romanée “Quartiers de Nuits” from Domaine de Bellene is a red wine of notable intensity and aromatic detail, produced in what is perhaps the most suited village in the world for the production of red wines. The legend of Vosne Romanée is rightly fueled by all wine enthusiasts, as the most renowned grand crus for the production of Pinot Noir reside in this small village in the heart of the Cote d'Or. Excluding the names that make heads turn, there are several parcels or lieux dits capable of giving life to great wines, and Nicolas Potel has the opportunity to engage with several of these and interpret them with the sensitivity and precision that characterize his style. Respectful viticulture and reduced intervention allow each parcel to enhance its peculiarities, and it is precisely here that the charm and greatness of Burgundy reside, as well as the intelligence of a winemaker like Nicolas who prefers to follow the land rather than dominate it.
The red Vosne Romanée “Quartiers de Nuits” is obtained from pure Pinot Noir grapes coming from the homonymous village and from vines at least 90 years old that rest on clay-limestone soil with southeast exposure. In the vineyard, the dictates of biodynamic agriculture are followed, adhering to the lunar phases and using only natural preparations, copper, and a bit of sulfur. In the cellar, the process continues with spontaneous alcoholic fermentations in oak barrels and aging for 12 months always in the same containers, new for 50%.
The “Quartiers de Nuits” Vosne Romanée presents itself in the glass with an intense and luminous ruby robe. A pulsating nose, characterized by that ethereal and elusive character that only Burgundy wines possess. Following an olfactory succession of berries, kumquat, oriental spices, and macerated flowers, a sensual and creamy sip follows, splendid for texture and finesse. Charming, like few others.
