White 'Fiero' Cantina Margò 2022
ArtisanalBianco 'Fiero' Cantina Margò is a fresh and fragrant white wine made from Grechetto. After alcoholic fermentation and a short maceration on the skins, the wine is bottled without filtration or clarification, giving an extremely authentic result. Very fragrant, the nose expresses notes of white flowers and light citrus nuances, while the palate is fresh and enveloping, with a pleasant savory note on the finish. A perfect wine for the whole meal, to accompany delicate vegetarian dishes!
The Bianco ‘Fiero’ from Cantina Margò represents a handcrafted label with an irresistible savory and citrusy taste. This label is made from only Grechetto grapes, a variety that seems to have Greek origins, hence the name. Until the early 2000s, a single Grechetto vine was identified, but genetic analyses have instead demonstrated the existence of two distinct varieties: clone G109, also known as Grechetto di Orvieto or simply Grechetto, and clone G5, also known as Grechetto di Todi, Grechetto Gentile, or Pignoletto in Emilia.
Cantina Margò Bianco ‘Fiero’ is a pure Grechetto from vines aged between 25 and 50 years, cultivated according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture on soils rich in clay, limestone, and marls. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, and the grapes are then destemmed and placed in skin maceration for about 2-3 days. The alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously in open tanks thanks to indigenous yeasts, without temperature control, and the subsequent maturation phase of several months takes place in steel. Throughout the entire process, the use of clarification, filtration, or stabilization operations is excluded.
The ‘Fiero’ Bianco Cantina Margò has a bright straw-yellow color with golden highlights. Notes of yellow-fleshed fruit, wildflowers, and citrus peel characterize the olfactory landscape, enriched by delicate hints of almond and aromatic herbs. Tasting broad and smooth, fresh and pleasantly savory, with a citrusy and mineral finish, delicately almondy. A characterful Umbrian Grechetto to pair with earthy first courses, fish second courses, or tasty savory pies.
