Antica Torino
Antica Torino is a dedication to the purest Piedmontese tradition of flavored wine and liqueurs. The search for the authentic Sabaudian drinking experience originates from two distinct backgrounds, that of Vittorio Zoppi and that of Filippo Antonelli, both inextricably linked to the memory of herbs and scents from childhood. For the former, an expert in foreign wine and liqueur trade, Vermouth is synonymous with summers spent with his grandmother Iole, who allowed her grandson to dip a finger into her glass to taste its aromas. For the latter, an Umbrian winemaker, the flavored wine evokes the Piedmontese roots of his family, which are deeply rooted in the territories where the history of the liqueur originated.
The bitters and liqueurs of Antica Torino are characterized by a distinct organoleptic uniqueness, evoking scents and flavors of the past. Two years of research, numerous experiments, and refinements have allowed the recreation of the flavors and aromas of Piedmontese originality, the result of a careful selection of aromatic herbs, flowers, and spices processed artisanally according to natural rigor, without the use of dyes. The sincerity of the ingredients and the genuineness of their processing make the production of Antica Torino ideal for a blend of historical and modern: it can indeed be enjoyed neat or mixed as a base for classic cocktails such as Americano, Manhattan, or Negroni.
The Antica Torino distillery was born as a journey of rediscovery of the Turin recipes, a tribute not only to the culture and elegant lifestyle of the first Italian capital - where at the turn of the twentieth century, salons were crowded to celebrate the Hour of Vermouth - but also to the oldest Piedmontese monastic tradition of preparing distillates and bitters with medicinal properties, passed down from century to century within the walls of the famous Sacra di San Michele. This combination of memories offers a sip with an authentic and nostalgic flavor, capable of conveying the sensations of afternoons at grandmother's house, the dedication of monastic production, and the dreamy atmosphere of Casa Savoia during the Belle Epoque.
