Baraldo Giacomo

The Giacomo Baraldo winery was founded in San Casciano dei Bagni, at the southernmost tip of the province of Siena, in a border territory dominated by Monte Cetona. The company has its roots in the 1990s as a family agricultural reality, initially composed of woods, pastures, and arable land, without any winemaking tradition. The spark for wine ignited during a family lunch when, while drinking two great reds, Giacomo opened up to a world made of aromas and indelible sensations. Giacomo had an epiphany, and his adolescent curiosity transformed into a precise vocation. This experience will lead him to study viticulture and oenology, to plant the first vineyard, and to build, vineyard by vineyard, a craft project deeply connected to his land.

the use of sulfur is measured throughout the production process and the winemaking avoids invasive practices. Experimentation finds its highest expression in wines fermented directly in the vineyard (a real unicum in the global landscape), while the oenological approach remains technical, direct, and pragmatic, matured thanks to international experiences between Bordeaux, Burgundy, Patagonia, and New Zealand.

The wines of Giacomo Baraldo are a reflection of a unique territory, marked by high altitudes, limestone soils, and the influence of the thermal waters that characterize San Casciano dei Bagni. In the glass, wines of great tension, sapidity, and precision emerge, capable of uniting energy, depth, and territorial readability, without excessive extraction. The high-altitude Sangiovese is a true stylistic mark, with silky tannins and vibrant freshness, while the whites surprise with structure and dynamism. Each label tells a cru, an exposure, a sincere and identity-driven idea of wine, designed to evolve over time and to return an authentic expression of this rare Tuscan “climat.”
