Casanova di Neri represents one of the leading wineries in the prestigious Montalcino wine-growing area, capable of establishing itself worldwide thanks to the exceptional quality of its wines. The estate was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri, a grain and seed merchant from Monteverchi who, fascinated by the character that Sangiovese shows in Montalcino, decided to embark on this adventure with the aim of producing a great red wine. He thus identified Podere Casanova, a 200-hectare property that, due to its pedological, altimetrical and microclimatic characteristics, showed exceptional qualitative potential. In 1991, on Giovanni's death, his son Giacomo took over the reins of the winery, which he now runs, assisted by his sons Giovanni and Gianlorenzo through an innovative spirit, a principle that has always guided the family's production philosophy.

The vineyards owned by the Casanova di Neri winery are spread over almost 80 hectares, located in various sub-zones of the Brunello di Montalcino area. There are seven plots cultivated by the estate: Fiesole, Cerretalto, Collalli, Podernuovo, Pietradonice, Giovanni Neri and Cetine, each with its own unique identity. Obviously, Sangiovese Grosso represents the core of the varietal platform, reproduced through a mass selection from the Cerretalto vineyard. The altitudes range from 250 to 490 metres above sea level, the soils are predominantly marl and the agronomic management is based on organic farming principles. The vinification process aims to enhance the characteristics of each vineyard, with fermentation taking place in open truncated steel and wood vats, while slow ageing takes place in oak casks of varying capacity.

Compared to the prototypical Brunello di Montalcino, Neri's interpretations of Casanova highlight an imposing and concentrated style that has found favour with the market and national and especially international critics. Labels such as the Brunello di Montalcino 'Cerretalto' and 'Tenuta Nuova' are coveted by aficionados and collectors the world over, eager to acquire one of Montalcino's most acclaimed names.
