Created in 1975 by Francesco Gettuli, Citari winery has grown over time thanks to love and dedication handed down by its founder to his daughter Giovanna, who is now driving with her husband Ugo Mascini and children Maria Giovanna, and Francesco. The farm is fortunate to arise in a place rich in history, the Colle di San Martino, near the eponymous tower built to commemorate the battle, fought here in June 24 1859, opened the way for Unification of Italy. The company develops in these beautiful areas, for 25 acres of gently rolling moraine faces south. Here, the mild climate and unique terroir of Garda Lake create more favorable climatic conditions for the perfect ripening of the grapes. It's also important to emphasize the small size of the vineyards and the company itself, which allows the family to follow step by step every process that leads to the production of wine, from manual harvesting of the grapes to modern winemaking techniques used to enhance the characteristics of these wines, rich in texture and intense in fruity scents. Determination, bond with the land and constant recovery of the tradition associated with the targeted use of technology, allows Citari to produce the three prestigious DOC of Garda Lake: Lugana, San Martino and Garda Classico. In particular, the Lugana "Vigneto la Conchiglia", proved to be a truly amazing wine, thanks to the intensity and freshness of flavor. A cellar certainly fascinating to discover.
