Crotta di Vegneron is the ancient history of the small, great reality of the terroir of the “andret” slope of Chambave, in Valle d'Aosta.
The cooperative was born in 1980 thanks to the union of 25 brave winemakers of the area, having decreased year after year, wanting to preserve and revive their own hard work. Five years later the members of Crotta di Vegneron have become 80, reaching today the hundred members, with a broad and estimated production. Thanks to its dry climate, the area has always been great for the breeding of the grapes, which grow with exposure to the south and in extreme slope between 500 and 850 meters above sea. The low rainfall and average temperatures in daytime that are opposed to cool nights, which can be even cold in summer, give the wines such a unique flavor characteristics, allowing the grapes to ripen without artificial treatments against pests: nature gives harmony and balance to the hard work of men, who are proud of their territory.
Crotta di Vegneron offers traditional local vines and collect bunches of two great production areas, from which the DOC names of Chambave and Nus are given.
In the wines of Crotta di Vegneron you can feel the strength and passion of the mountain spirit that animates these "campagnards", these winemakers: theirs is a heroic viticulture that offers aromas and flavors that are unique in the world, with a long and prestigious history.
