Delas Freres
The Maison Delas Frères is a true institution of the Rhône Valley. Its origins date back to 1835 and it is still considered by enthusiasts and connoisseurs a benchmark of the territory. Since 1996, thanks to new management, it has regained its former glory and embarked on a virtuous path of qualitative growth, also with significant investments to modernize the equipment at the production site in Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, near Tournon-sur-Rhône. The estate produces a wide range of wines that cover the main Appellation of the Rhône Valley, enriched by some labels dedicated to particularly prized terroirs, which are part of the region's elite.
The Maison manages some vineyards directly and in other cases purchases grapes from local winemakers. In particular, it owns magnificent properties in famous denominations on the left bank: 10 hectares in the AOC Hermitage, 2 hectares in the AOC Saint-Joseph, and 18 in Crozes-Hermitage. The rest of the supplies come from established collaborative relationships with local vignerons, who share the same philosophy as the Maison and apply the same principles regarding vineyard cultivation. Thanks to this activity, Delas Frères can offer excellent labels from the Appellation Côte Rôtie, Condrieu, Cornas. A choice that allows it to stay true to the goal of always pursuing excellence and offering connoisseurs the best wines of the Rhône Valley.
The process of renewing the cellars has led to the replacement of steel tanks with small 85-hectoliter concrete vats, which allow for vinification by single terroir, highlighting their nuances, with the aim of producing wines that increasingly reflect the characteristics of each individual area. All operations are carried out using only the force of gravity, so as not to stress the grapes and musts with pumping. The extractions are gentle and lead to the creation of refined and elegant wines. The aging cellar has been completely redone and now contains 600 barriques, which come from the best tonnelleries: François Frères, Seguin Moreau and Damy.
