Domaine de Brin

Domaine de Brin is the creation of Damien Bonnet, who began working on the first 6 hectares of the family business in 2008 and three years later acquired the remaining vineyards, deciding to convert the entire operation to organic. He puts into practice his studies in viticulture and oenology inaugurating his own winemaking, while his father Jean-François had always delivered the harvest to the cooperative winery. The South-West is his home: the new French Eldorado, capable of all possible oenological types.

Domaine de Brin is located within an exceptional territory, on the gentle slopes in the north-eastern area of Gaillac, at an altitude between 280 and 300 meters above sea level, north of the Tarn River, which gives its name to the homonymous department, and the historic town of Albi. The 12 hectares of vineyards extend across the municipalities of Castanet and Villeneuve-sur-Vère, in the heart of a clay-limestone plateau, with an east and south-facing exposure: conducted according to Ecocert certification, they are surrounded by oak forests that influence the microclimate and protect against contamination from any nearby treatments.oaks that influence the microclimate and protect against contamination from any nearby treatments. In an idyllic context, Damien enthusiastically takes care of the ancient and fascinating indigenous varieties of Gaillacois, rare and even exotic names in the ampelography of the average enthusiast: Mauzac, the white berry symbol of the first historic sparkling productions at the dawn of the 16th century, Loin de l’Oeil, also known as Len-de-Lel and perhaps cultivated directly from wild vines, Ondenc; the black berries Duras, dark, extremely sugary and spicy, Braucol, also known as Fer Servadou, Prunelart, first described in 1500. There are also small quantities of Syrah and Merlot. The vines boast an average age of around 30 years, dense at about 5,000 plants per hectare and are hand-harvested with yields that sometimes do not reach 40 quintals per hectare.
