Domaine Leflaive

Domaine Leflaive is a symbol of excellence and prestige of Burgundy wine, established over three centuries of history for the extraordinary quality of its wines. It all began in 1717, when Claude Leflaive settled in Puligny-Montrachet, in the famous Côte de Beaune, starting to cultivate the vine. However, the official founding of the estate dates back to the first half of the 20th century, when Joseph Leflaive began to market the first wines under the family name. Currently, the winery is led by Brice de La Morandiére, great-grandson of Joseph, who in 2015 took over from the late Anne-Claude Leflaive, a pioneer of biodynamic agriculture. In addition to its owned vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, Domaine Leflaive cultivates vines within the territory of Mâconnais, in southern Burgundy.

Domaine Leflaive has approximately 25 hectares of vineyards, of which almost 5 are distributed among Grand Cru vineyards of the prestigious denominations of Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet and Montrachet. On soils of calcareous-clay matrix, particularly rich in mineral elements, the estate exclusively cultivates Chardonnay, the noble indigenous grape of Burgundy. Since 1996, the Domaine has embraced biodynamic agriculture, with the utmost respect for the health of the environment and the character of the territory. Furthermore, in many plots, plowing is carried out with the help of a horse, thus avoiding excessive soil compaction. The harvest is done entirely by hand and is always accompanied by careful selection in the cellar. After pressing, the musts are left to decant at low temperature and, according to Burgundian tradition, the phases of vinification and aging take place in oak barrels, containers in which the wines rest for 12 months before a further 6 months of refinement in steel.

Whether it is the refined Puligny-Montrachet, the prestigious Chevalier-Montrachet, or the valuable Pouilly-Fuissé, all the wines of Domaine Leflaive rank at the top quality of the Chardonnays of Burgundy, expressing the unique characteristics
