Dryas
Dryas is a young, small, and dynamic winery in Montefredane, in the Avellino area, founded in 2011 by the passion of Stefano Loffredo and Rossella. The name of the winery is dedicated to the great centuries-old oak that dominates the vineyard; the ancient Greek term for identifying the oak was indeed “drys”. In the early years, production was focused on a single still white wine, while in recent years, it has almost entirely been about sparkling wines.
The vineyard of the Dryas winery includes only one hectare of vineyard cultivated with Fiano for a small production of quality, territorial, and identity. The aim is to enhance and express the most typical and representative grape variety of Irpinia. Stefano and Rossella are directly involved in this project and personally oversee the work in the vineyard and winery. The choice, from the beginning of this journey, has been to rely on technology and the most modern winemaking techniques, entrusted, however, to human care alone and always aimed at respecting the Irpinian tradition.
The microclimate is influenced by the rich presence of woods and springs that surround the ancient village of Montefredane, already populated in the time of the Samnites and with a very ancient agricultural tradition. In the small family winery, vinification takes place in steel and the musts, endowed with a beautiful concentration and rich freshness, favor the production of whites that have proven capable of evolving positively in the bottle for several years. Two sparkling wines are also produced, one obtained using the Charmat Method and the other using the Classic Method.Dryas wines have stood out for their clear territorial imprint: Fiano presents itself with its typical freshness, a clear savory and mineral component, and a citrus aromatic profile, which shifts towards hydrocarbon and tertiary nuances with aging. The expressiveness it conveys is that of a territory as ancient as it is suited to viticulture, brilliantly interpreted by this small family winery that is making a name for itself, receiving an ever-increasing number of accolades from critics and the.enthusiasts.
