Cantina Falesco began its journey in Montefiascone in 1979, where brothers Renzo and Riccardo Cotarella, renowned oenologists, decided to expand and enhance a small family-owned vineyard founded in the 1960s by brothers Antonio and Domenico Cotarella. At the helm of the winery, Renzo and Riccardo have made it their personal mission to research and develop the ancient grape varieties of Alto Lazio, rediscovering varieties that had almost disappeared. Falesco has been synonymous with the oenological renaissance of the region, paying homage to the centuries-old winemaking tradition of the area, once fundamental for supplies to the papal cellars.

The Falesco vineyards extend over a vast area from Montefiascone to Lake Bolsena, in northern Lazio, areas particularly suited to the cultivation of the grapes that the Cotarella brothers have studied and researched for years. The soils that slope gently down from Montefiascone towards the Tiber valley are home to vines of Trebbiano, Malvasia and Roscetto, a species belonging to the Greco grape family that has almost been lost. The areas planted with vines near Bolsena, on the other hand, descend more rapidly towards the lake and the alternation of higher-altitude areas with a cool climate and lowlands with a Mediterranean climate favours the optimal ripening of Aleatico grapes. Alongside the indigenous varieties, there are also international varieties such as Merlot, Syrah and Viogner, which have found a perfect habitat in the volcanic soils of these hills.

Falesco is first and foremost the result of the great passion and expertise of the Cotarella brothers, indispensable elements that have led to a production that is always faithful to itself, albeit in a spirit of curious exploration and scientific dynamism in cultivation and vinification. It is precisely their innate curiosity that has led them to discover the full potential of the territories and grape varieties that host them, bringing out their peculiarities and uniqueness to the full. The result is extremely interesting labels, known and appreciated by both amateurs and national and international connoisseurs.

"La vigna è vita. Dalla vigna è iniziata la nostra storia. La vigna è ricordo, emozione, passione ed entusiasmo"
