Fattoria Aldobrandesca - Antinori

The Fattoria Aldobrandesca is set in the historic "Etruscan Tuff Zone", where the landscape diverges from the coastline, characterized by plains and pine forests close to the beaches. Located instead in the hinterland, where the tuff charm materializes in fortified towns carved into this magmatic rock, it is owned by nothing less than a family that, in the field of Italian wine production, is among the most historic and renowned: the Marchesi Antinori, who purchased it in 1995 to bring their noble winemaking vision to these lands, rarely used for the creation of cosmopolitan and international wines.

Spanning 100 hectares at the foot of the tuff spur where the town of Sovana rises, the vineyards of Fattoria Aldobrandesca are located at an altitude of 200 meters of elevation and are situated on volcanic and flat soils. Here, specifically in Scansanaccio, a small locality under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Sorano, two grape varieties are paired that maintain particularly different sensory and origin profiles: Aleatico, a semi-aromatic quality derived from a mutation of a black-skinned Moscato, and Malbec of Bordeaux origin, currently the flagship grape of Argentine viticulture, which finds an excellent growing habitat in the gently hilly Maremma lands.

The history of Fattoria Aldobrandesca is thus one of rejection, closely linked to the winemaking and entrepreneurial initiative of the Antinori family, which boasts a genealogy engaged in the cultivation of the vine and the winemaking of its fruits that has lasted continuously for 26 generations, since Giovanni di Piero Antinori became part of the Florentine Guild of Vinattieri in 1385, the corporation dedicated to the purchase, trade, and distribution of the work of the "vinai" of the time. After extending their domains to manage several plots of land throughout the peninsula, the family's international vision has landed in Maremma, where it is possible to recognize in every bottle produced the elegance and the finesse that distinguishes it.
