Fattoria Nannì
In the Marche countryside of Apiro, in the locality of Arsicci, stands the young Fattoria Nanni, founded by Roberto Cantori. Strong from his studies in Enology and his long career in the restaurant field, the young man decides to begin his adventure as a winemaker alongside his family. He starts from some vineyards that were planted in '67 by Gianni Piersigilli, nicknamed Nannì, to whom he also dedicates the name of the winery. A convinced supporter of the organic world and low-impact agriculture, Roberto is madly in love with his land and describes it poetically. He tells of Monte San Vicino, that mountain of the Marche Apennines on the border between Ancona and Macerata, shaped like a “panettone” that watches over the valleys, guards the castles, and protects the rows of the estate. A place that Mother Nature has carefully and meticulously designed and that seems to respond to the most fertile and suitable home that the vine seeks. The silver expanses of olive trees intertwine with the golden patches of wheat up to the border between land and sea, where the Adriatic colors the horizon blue. Here the vine awaits nothing but to grow lush and multiply in the 19 hectares of property, of which 5 are planted and destined exclusively for old Verdicchio vines.
We find ourselves on those gentle hills located at 450 meters above sea level that connect the Apennines to the Adriatic Sea. The soils are of limestone origin and exposed to the breezes that constantly blow from the sea and the mountains. Verdicchio is the grape with which the winery identifies, a variety that, as Roberto recounts, expresses the maximum typicity of the regional territory. In the winery, aging occurs only in steel, precisely to allow the wine to express all the freshness and fragrance of the Macerata hills.
The Fattoria Nanni winery produces only one label, Il Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi “Origini”. An author painting of the Marche, starting already from its wonderful label made with watercolors, which tells the most authentic and expressive side of Verdicchio immersed in the wonderful Marche landscape. It is tasty, dry, pleasantly bitter, delightful and enveloping, characterized by a very fruity and floral aromatic profile. A wine, a winery, a region, and a grape: a pure example of Marche tradition!
