Lapierre Marcel
Marcel Lapierre is the last heir of this particular winery, which has its origins at the beginning of the nineteenth century, in the Beaujolais area. Villiè-Morgon hosts the estate's vineyards, located in the Rhône department, a region with a long and renowned winemaking tradition, among its sinuous hills. After his father Michael, the founder, it was Camille who took the reins of the family business, deciding to bottle and expand the winery. The great turning point comes with Marcel, young and promising, who decides to proceed with a completely natural production philosophy. With the support of the University of California, he still maintains the 13 hectares with the precise aim of giving a very long future to the fertility of his lands. Between Villiè-Morgon and Cote du Py, he perfectly manages to make his voice heard in a period of great standardization.
The Beaujolais wines of Marcel Lapierre are obtained, of course, from exclusive Gamay grapes, a native variety of great fame. The vines have an average age of 65 years,}]}},{and, therefore, strongly expressive in their terroir, with a strong granite presence, which gives labels of great expressive elegance. The harvest is carried out exclusively by hand, typically in two passes, to pick the grapes at the best of their ripeness. After semi-carbonic maceration, a method typically used in the Beaujolais region, where the bunches are not pressed but placed in steel tanks saturated with carbon dioxide, alcoholic fermentation is initiated by indigenous yeasts and all procedures are carried out without the use of sulfur dioxide. Subsequently, after pressing and racking, the various "cuvées" are blended to create the blend that will undergo aging in strictly French oak barrels for 9 months.
The reds of Marcel Lapierre are a great expression of Beaujolais. With their great drinkability, they indeed provide us with a great ease of pairing, in a drinking experience that is strongly fluid and pleasant. It is the principle of these labels, to try to convey a story that roots deeply, both in time and space. A tale of labels designed to be consumed quickly, even though they require a long time to be completed. Because this is Beaujolais, with its unique immediacy.
