The “Cuvée du Chat” by Marcel Lapierre is a red wine from Beaujolais, in Burgundy, made from Gamay grapes in collaboration with Jean-Claude Chanudet. Vinified using the traditional carbonic maceration typical of Beaujolais production, this nectar, cheerful and convivial, fills the glass with freshness and authenticity. An explosive mix of red fruits and flowers, framed by earthy and spicy notes, is the prelude to a simple, straightforward, and drinkable tasting experience, with great agility and dynamism.
The Beaujolais of Marcel Lapierre and Jean-Claude Chanudet is vinified from ancient eighty-year-old Gamay vines, cultivated near Mont Brouilly, in the Rhône Valley, in a small plot of just over one hectare on soils rich in granite, following the principles of organic farming. In the vineyard, only natural substances are used to minimize chemical substances. The harvest is done manually. Even during vinification, human intervention is limited; after a first carbonic maceration, the alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in steel tanks. The aging involves a rest of a few months in used oak barrels which gives softness and amplifies the aromatic range. Bottling occurs without the addition of sulfur.
The “Cuvée du Chat” from the Marcel Lapierre winery presents itself in the glass with a delicate ruby color, transparent and clear. The aromatic bouquet is characterized by a rich variety of perceptions; it ranges from notes of small red berries and dog rose to more earthy and peppery aromas that paint a very territorial and fragrant bouquet. On the palate, it is decidedly drinkable, enjoyable, simple, and satisfying; the low alcohol content and freshness make it highly gastronomic.
