On the volcanic ashes of Vulture, in Basilicata, Michele Laluce's winery interprets Aglianico, the enoic symbol of this volcano, with boldness, resourcefulness and fidelity. Michele's winemaking adventure began in 2001, when starting from his father's vineyards he launched his own project, investing care and dedication along the entire production process, from the plant to the final bottle. Michele has followed a well-established family tradition since the Laluce family has been involved in viticulture since the very early 1900s, a time when Michele's ancestors cultivated vines near the town of Ginestra.

Located between Barile and Venosa, in the heart of the Aglianico del Vulture production area, the 6hectares of vineyards at Michele Laluce's winery are conducted following the principles of organic, non-certified agriculture. In addition to Aglianico del Vulture, the territory's princely variety, the estate raises aromatic Moscato and Malvasia vines. The vines benefit from the altitude between 400 and 450 meters above sea level and from the volcanic nature of the soils, which are also rich in clay, limestone and mineral elements, as well as from the agronomic management adopted by Michele, aimed at favoring quality over quantity. What is more, the area enjoys constant ventilation and significant temperature ranges between day and night during the summer, a prerequisite that favors optimal ripening of the grapes. In addition to agronomic sustainability, Michele then uses photovoltaic panels to minimize the energy impact of winery operations. Thermoregulated stainless steel tanks are adopted for vinification, while the subsequent aging phase can take place either in steel or in oak barrels of various capacities and types.

Michele Laluce is a man of few words who works his vineyards with care and patience. For the winemaker, his wines speak for themselves: forthright and genuine, with great personality, able to impeccably reflect the uniqueness of the Vulture terroir. Among our favorite labels is the Aglianico del Vulture 'Zimberno,' a fresh, youthful expression of the appellation.
