Podere Il Castellaccio

Podere Il Castellaccio is a Tuscan winery located in Castagneto Carducci, in the heart of the Etruscan Maremma Coast. We are not far from the Tirreno seaside, close to the famous Bolgherese road already mentioned by Carducci, in an environment where the sea breezes help create a particular microclimate, ideal for grape cultivation. The estate is family-run, and the new generations in charge of the winery have contributed to making its commercial approach more dynamic, opening new markets not only for wine but also for oil, since, within the property, there are over 2000 ancient olive trees. Today's mission is to look towards a future where the traditions of the past integrate with a contemporary vision, essential for facing the challenges that the world of wine poses daily.

In the vineyards of Podere Il Castellaccio, there are several native red grape varieties, primarily Sangiovese, the true protagonist of Tuscan viticulture, and then Ciliegiolo with round leaves and Pugnitello, two very rare grape varieties within the regional ampelographic heritage, on which the ownership of Podere has insisted since the beginning, with important recovery and enhancement operations. The grapes, which grow in plots that are around forty years old, are cultivated using natural methods and are carefully monitored during the vegetative phases, particularly during the ripening and harvest phases. In the cellar, fermentations occur spontaneously, thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts.

The wines of Podere Il Castellaccio are currently four exclusively red wines, which have received interesting critical acclaim, both nationally and in international guides of the caliber of Wine Spectator and James Suckling. A range that is all worth trying, from which emerges the winemaking tradition of the Bolgheri terroir, enhanced by a natural approach, where the grape is free to express itself at excellent levels of authenticity and straightforwardness. "Somatico", "Valente", "Dinostro" and "Orio", from whichever bottle you choose to start the evening, the guarantee of a quality drink will always accompany you.
