The Pusole winery is located in the heart of Ogliastra, in the town of Lotzorai near the province of Nuoro. This particular area of the Sardinian east coast enjoys a mild climate thanks to the semicircle created by the Gennargentu mountains, which protect it from the freezing winter winds. The 11 hectares owned by the Pusole brothers are scattered between this municipality and the neighbouring one of Baunei. Roberto, as an enologist, received his training in the municipality of Alba and together with his siblings Loredana and Lorenzo manages the winery that has been in the family for 4 generations. In addition to wine production, they have also been involved in wild pig breeding, which provides the fertiliser used in the vineyard, and the cultivation of corn and olive oil, which is perfectly in tune with the philosophy of the past.

The red and white Cannonau and Vermentino grapes are cultivated by Pusole using traditional methods with a low environmental impact. In particular, the Cannonau vine is still grown using the alberello system, which is historically associated with this vine, especially on the larger islands, while the Vermentino variety is grown using the guyot system. The work in the vineyard is as respectful as possible of the soil and the primary needs of the vine. The soil is composed mainly of sand, stone and granite and is therefore very draining. It is ploughed by hand and nettle macerates are used instead of pesticides to control harmful organisms, with no artificial or chemical irrigation. The Pramaera and Girasole rivers, which surround the vineyard soil, keep water resources and humidity abundant, in a climate that is extremely favourable for the cultivation of grapes. In the cellar, to further maintain the typical character of the wines, only indigenous yeasts are used through the pied de cuve method. Fermentation is spontaneous and the temperature is controlled exclusively by airing the must.

The wines of Pusole reflect the strong character of the Sardinian land thanks to their natural bond with the Mediterranean vegetation. They are rich in fruity scents and their structure is pleasantly soft with a good freshness, which is suitable for cleansing the palate while accompanying the best typical dishes of this land. The traditions are respected by the Pusole brothers with the specific purpose of preserving a precious and extremely rich land, which expresses its best features through the warm tones of a wine that has been studied and loved as if it were part of a big family.
