Quenard

The Domaine André and Michel Quenard works in a craft and sustainable manner within the territory of Chignin, in the wine region of Savoie. This family-run production reality officially began in 1976, but the winemaking tradition of the Quenard family dates back to the 17th century. The latest addition to the family is Guillame, who joined his father Michel in managing the Domaine in 2009. The entire viticultural and enological process is focused on the pursuit of maximum quality, achieved through an environmentally respectful approach.

The vineyards cultivated by the Quenard family, spread over 32 hectares, are located on the steep slopes of Torméry, with slopes ranging from 40 to 70% that have necessitated the creation of terraces to facilitate agronomic operations. The vines, some of which are up to 70 years old, are situated between 300 and 400 meters above sea level with a full south exposure, which ensures maximum solar radiation. Regarding the pedological aspect, the soils range from marly soils rich in limestone rocks to clay-limestone soils rich in iron, with a generally abundant presence of gravel. In this environmental context, the indigenous grape varieties Mondeuse, Persian, Jacquère, Altesse, and Roussanne, locally called Bergeron, grow strong and healthy, as well as the Burgundy-origin varieties Gamay and Pinot Noir. Since 2004, the estate has been able to boast certification in sustainable agriculture, with harvests carried out strictly by hand and winemaking done in a traditional style. The use of sulfur is drastically limited to promote spontaneous fermentations, including malolactic fermentation, with subsequent maturation periods taking place in steel tanks or oak barrels, depending on the label in question.

The selection of the French winery Quenard is wide and varied, strongly linked to the territory of Chignin. The family produces white, rosé, and red still wines of excellent quality, as well as fine and dynamic sparkling wines. The foundation of the production is the search for authentic typicity, through which extraordinary labels originate
