Ronc Platat is a young Friulian winery that bases its production on respect for the health and balance of the ecosystem. The estate is located precisely in San Giovanni al Natisone, in the province of Udine, the place where the then 33-year-old Tommaso Zanuttini started his wine business in 2021, deciding to change his life completely. In fact, before that, Tommaso, a native of Cividale del Friuli, had taken a degree in law in Milan and then practised in a law firm. The call of the land then prompted the young man to rent a few vineyards between the municipalities of Buttrio and Manzano and begin experimental winemaking, also thanks to the support of winemaker friends. Things evolved rapidly and in the meantime Tommaso obtained a second degree in oenology. The winery's name derives from the association of the Friulian terms 'ronc', meaning a vine-covered hill, and 'platat', meaning 'hidden'.
Today, the Ronc Plat estate has 6 hectares of vineyards reserved for traditional Friulian vines, both native and non-native, such as Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Chardonnay and Merlot. The agronomic management is based on the principles of organic farming and the choice of the harvest period is fundamental, as Tommaso aims to harvest grapes at the perfect stage of ripeness, neither green nor overripe. In the cellar, the bunches are pressed whole, all fermentation is entrusted exclusively to the yeasts naturally present on the grapes and in the winemaking environment, and French oak barriques, some of which Tommaso imports himself, are used as wine containers. Maturation takes place on fine lees and malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously.
The style of the Ronc Platat labels seeks balance, cleanliness and classicism, fundamental values for producer Tommaso Zanuttini. The whites, the core of the selection, stand out for their refined and typical character capable of remaining imprinted in the taster's mind.
