Sangre de Vida
Sangre de Vida is a top-quality and highly original tequila brand based in the Mexican state of Jalisco, the undisputed homeland of the best tequilas. In fact, this popular distillate, whose name comes from the local town of Tequila, could only be produced within the state of Jalisco until a few decades ago. Fundamental to the production of tequila is the volcanic nature of the soils and the exclusive use of Agave Tequilana, also known as Agave Blue Weber.
The production process of Sangre de Vida tequilas begins with the cultivation of Agave Blue Weber on the Jalisco plateau, at altitudes exceeding 1,500 meters above sea level. Here, the volcanic soils are rich in sand and minerals while the climate is hot and dry, characterized by significant temperature variations between day and night. Once the agave has reached full maturity, the heart of the plant, called piña due to its characteristic pineapple-like shape, is harvested and then slowly cooked in brick ovens according to the local centuries-old tradition.characteristic pineapple-like shape, which is then slowly cooked in brick ovens according to the local centuries-old tradition. This is followed by the mechanical processing of the cooked piña from which the sugary juice is extracted, which then undergoes 5 days of alcoholic fermentation followed by triple distillation.
The special edition ‘El Corazon’ is inspired by card number 27 of the Loteria, a traditional Mexican gambling game similar to bingo that uses illustrated cards instead of numbered ping pong balls. The tequilas in this selection are packaged in a peculiar heart-shaped glass bottle, symbolizing the love of the Mexican people for tequila, the national distillate. The ‘El Corazon’ line includes both Tequila Blanco, bottled directly without any aging process and therefore a pure expression of the distillate, and Tequila ‘Reposado’, aged for 3 months in oak barrels and consequently characterized by greater complexity.
