Sottimano

The Sottimano family is a family of winemakers with a great peasant tradition, inextricably linked to the village of Neive and the production area of Barbaresco. Rino Sottimano, the winemaker who founded the winery in the 1970s, is now joined by his son Andrea in the work in the vineyard and winery, along with his wife Anna and daughter Elena who handle the commercial work.  The deep roots that the Sottimano family has firmly established in the territory have always led Rino to strongly believe in a healthy and natural approach in the vineyard, far from the trends of the moment. This approach has facilitated his son's path to organic conversion, recently inaugurated.

The vineyards of Sottimano winery are mainly located in Neive and Treiso and include the prestigious crus of Cottà, Pajoré, Currà, Fausoni, and Basarin. The cultivation method and the work in the winery are designed to produce wines of the highest quality, and the rules are strict and precise: no weeding, no systemic products, meticulous thinning, low yields, only indigenous yeasts, longfermentation and aging of over a year on the lees, as it was done in the past.

The wines of Sottimano are traditional and precise expressions of the territory, appreciated and sought after even beyond national borders. All Barbaresco wines come from the crus and there are no 'base' wines. Despite international success, all wines continue to be produced in limited quantities and, harvest after harvest, confirm their genuine, typical, and truthful expressive character: great Piedmontese wines to frame but also and above all to drink.
