The Vicara Winery, acronym for Visconti, Cassinis, and Ravizza, is a captivating wine-producing reality born in 1992. Located on the hills of Rosignano, a village near Casale Monferrato, it is renowned for its vineyards of Barbera, Freisa, and Grignolino. The winery has inherited a long tradition, dating back to the 17th century, and today is led by Giuseppe and his cousin Emanuele Visconti. Their mission is to enhance their territory by producing both everyday classics and prestigious labels, cultivating respect for ancient agricultural practices and highlighting the native grapes of the region.
Vicara's production philosophy is a fusion of respect for ancient methods and bold forays into innovation. The 70 hectares of land, of which 33 are vineyards, stretch between the Po River and the plain of Alessandria, spanning five municipalities with different geological and pedoclimatic characteristics. The vineyards, ranging from seven to seventy years old, are cultivated with the traditional Guyot system, characterized by short pruning to ensure superior quality. Careful soil management, spontaneous ground cover, and natural pest defense testify to Vicara's commitment to sustainability, reducing the need for external interventions.
Each bottle of Vicara is born from a strong connection with the territory, following a "tailor-made" method that controls every phase, from vine planting to aging. With a wide range of wines, from Barbera to Freisa and Grignolino, Vicara stands out for its production of both everyday and prestigious labels, awarded year after year. The commitment to soil health and environmental sustainability, combined with a careful approach to winemaking, gives Vicara wines a unique character that reflects the identity of the place and the talent of the people who tirelessly work between the rows and the cellar. With deep roots in Monferrato, famous for castles, "infernot" cellars, and a centuries-old wine history, Vicara continues to be a symbol of excellence in the Italian wine landscape.
