The Zinfandel “Diamond”, produced by the Californian winery of director Francis Ford Coppola, belongs to the Diamond Collection line, which offers fresh and fragrant wines, capable of best expressing the varietal characteristics of the grapes. The Zinfandel is nothing more than a clone of Primitivo, a grape variety widely spread in Puglia and originating from the other side of the Adriatic, particularly from the area of Montenegro. This variety from Eastern Europe arrived in the United States around the mid-nineteenth century and adapted so well to the new continent that it became the flagship of its winemaking.

“Diamond” Zinfandel by Francis Ford Coppola was born from the famous director's desire to also engage with the world of wine. His adventure among the vines began towards the end of the 1970s with the purchase of a historic estate with some old vineyards and subsequently with the creation of a real winery in the heart of Sonoma Valley, in a very suitable area of California. Even though the label shows the name of the Zinfandel grape, it is not a pure wine.the name of the grape variety Zinfandel, this is not a pure wine. It is a blend made with a majority percentage of Zinfandel, which gives the typical fruity softness, complemented by a balance of Syrah and Petit Verdot, which contribute to providing structure, tannins, and especially the characteristic spicy notes. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with a maceration on the skins for a few weeks. The wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels before being bottled.

The red Zinfandel "Diamond" by Francis Ford Coppola is a label that will delight lovers of soft and seductive smoothness, warm and enveloping wines. With a rather dark ruby red color, it stands out for a very rich and mature aromatic profile, particularly featuring notes of sour cherry, wild blackberry, red-fleshed plum, hints of vanilla, oriental spices, and black pepper. Full-bodied, it has a velvety tannic texture and a wide and juicy sip, characterized by soft and harmonious fruity sensations. The finish is very persistent, with a pleasantly spicy finish.
