“Abbazia di Rosazzo” by Livio Felluga is a prestigious label from the range of this historic Friulian winery. It originates from a place that has been linked to viticulture for centuries, representing an important piece of the wine history of the area. The vineyards of the Abbey have always been famous for their production of top-quality grapes, and Livio Felluga has always been fascinated by the possibility of taking care of this heritage of old vines to create a great white wine. This desire was fulfilled in 2009 with a label that quickly became a symbol of excellence. According to the oldest traditions of the area, it is produced with a blend of white grape varieties, creating a particularly harmonious and complex aromatic profile.
The white “Abbazia di Rosazzo” is an iconic wine of Friuli, a historical memory of a land and its culture. Livio Felluga fell in love with the Rosazzo area back in the 1950s, with the project of restoring to its ancient splendor one of the most important places of the Friulian wine history.. The wine is produced with grapes from Friulano, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon, Malvasia, and Ribolla Gialla, sourced from vineyards cultivated near the historic Abbey. The climate is mild, and the soils consist of limestone marls and Eocene sandstones, known in Friulian as ponca. At the end of the manual harvest, which takes place in multiple passes through the vineyard to follow the ripening periods of the different varieties, the soft pressing of the bunches is carried out to extract the must. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts. The wine matures in oak barrels for about 8-10 months, also undergoing malolactic fermentation, and completes its aging in the bottle.
The wine “Abbazia di Rosazzo” by Livio Felluga is a white of great personality and charm, a bottle to be enjoyed on a special occasion, to accompany an important seafood menu, with noble and flavorful fish or with delicate white meat second courses. In appearance, it presents a light yellow color with bright golden reflections.
