Alastro Planeta 2025

"Alastro" is the name of a wildflower that grows near the Planeta winery, located in Sambuca di Sicilia, in the province of Agrigento. It is a flower that, in spring, brightens the surrounding shrubs around Lake Arancio with yellow. Planeta was so fascinated by it that it named one of its wines after it. It is a grape blend with Grecanico, an extremely territorial native variety, as its protagonist. Like everything related to Sicily, of which this wine is an excellent ambassador, Alastro is characterized by brightness, joviality, and intensity of expression. Planeta is a winery that aims to tell the story of Sicily through a series of wines produced in its five estates, located in different areas of the region. The focus is on local varieties, for a concrete and tangible territoriality.

The Sicilia DOC "Alastro" is a white wine made up of 70% grapes Grecanico, 15% Grillo, and 15% Sauvignon Blanc, coming from the Ulmo and Gurra vineyards. The harvest is carried out manually in several rounds throughout the month of September. A cold decantation precedes the fermentation, which takes place in steel tanks, where it rests on the fine lees for 6 months.

The distinctly aromatic scent of white fruit and citrus introduces the exuberant personality of the Sicilian white "Alastro". The fruity texture expands into an abundant array of sweet and engaging aromas. On the palate, it shows softness and good salinity. The 30% Grillo and Sauvignon enrich the olfactory profile and provide elegance and aromaticity. In short, a simple and easy-drinking wine that surprises with its unexpected magic of evolution.
