The Barbaresco “Gallina” from Castello di Neive originates in the beautiful medieval village of Neive in the heart of the Langhe in Piemonte, an area dedicated to the production of reds of unparalleled quality. The castle has an important history: since the 1400s it has been owned by noble Piedmontese families who have contributed to making this place enchanting. The winemaking activity has been internal to the castle for over a hundred years. The Stupino family has inherited this legacy and has always aimed to continue producing a wine that expresses the intrinsic characteristics of the territory: after father Giacomo, it is son Italo who has made a remarkable change, thanks to his scientific approach to the vineyard and the countryside. Tradition, research, and creativity are the words of the day that accompany the meticulous work projected into the future.

The owned lands cover an area of about 60 hectares, of which 27 are fully planted: the soil consists of alternating layers of marl and sand, formed as a result of flooding phenomena. The climate is continental with cold, humid winters often subject to snowfall; summers are hot and sultry, but with temperatures never too high. The harvest is manual in small crates; in the winery, alcoholic fermentation takes place for 10-12 days. It ages for 12 months in barrel.it is excellent with cuts of red meat from the Piedmontese tradition cooked on the grill and stewed, local game, and risottos with elaborate seasonings; perfect also with aged cow's milk cheeses for a tasty end to the meal. Excellent for delighting the festive family table and enjoying a traditional product that recalls the authentic flavors of the Piedmontese land.
