Barbaresco 'Santo Stefano Albesani' Castello di Neive 2022
Perfect to give as a giftThe Barbaresco "Santo Stefano Albesani" is a renowned expression of Barbaresco, born from a particularly suited vineyard and matured for 24 months in oak barrels. It is structured, intense, elegant, and persistent, animated by hints of dried flowers, berries, and balsamic herbs
The Barbaresco "Santo Stefano Albesani" from Castello di Neive encapsulates a unique and irresistible charm and history. It was in 1964 when Giacomo Stupino, upon acquiring the Castle, decided to also purchase the Cascina Santo Stefano, which had previously been used for hunting: an uncultivated hill full of brambles that Giacomo skillfully transformed with experience, expertise, and foresight into one of the sub-zones now considered among the most suitable for Barbaresco production. A vineyard where we find vines averaging 30-40 years old, exposed to the south and southwest, on a poor calcareous marl soil.
The Barbaresco "Santo Stefano Albesani" from Castello di Neive is profoundly different from Barbaresco "Gallina"; while the latter presents balanced notes of small dried red fruits and delicate wood, the "Santo Stefano Albesani" recalls more varietal nuances, balsamic notes, violet, rose, and spices on the finish. It is a Barbaresco where the tannin is well present and felt, giving elegance and refinement to a red that presents a very pleasant freshness capable of perfectly balancing the alcohol level. A Barbaresco of rare beauty and elegance, a Barbaresco with infinite persistence.
