Barbera 'Bompé' Borgogno 2024
Organic and biodynamicThe Barbera 'Bompé' Borgogno is a red wine with a significant structure and an inviting sip, an excellent expression of one of the most important grape varieties of the Langhe. With its fruity notes, well balanced by a smoky vein and an important savory note, it is the perfect pairing for first and second courses based on meat, such as those from Piedmontese cuisine!
The popular Langhe winery Borgogno presents the Barbera Langhe ‘Bompè’, a full-bodied, rich, and lively expression of the most cultivated grape variety throughout Piemonte. The grapes come from the historically most suitable area for Barbera cultivation, in the highest hills of Alba, precisely at Madonna di Como. Here, the parcel ‘Bompè’, spread over 9 hectares of hilly terrain, enjoys excellent exposure and from the 2020 vintage is entirely certified organic. This label aims to reveal the most complex and multifaceted face of Barbera, not relegating this precious variety to the role of grape destined for simple wines.
The Langhe Barbera ‘Bompè’ from the Borgogno estate is a 100% Barbera grown under certified organic farming at 410-425 meters above sea level, on clayey and chalky soils particularly rich in skeleton. The bunches are hand-picked and then transferred to the winery for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled concrete tanks, with about 10 days of contact between the must and the skins. The subsequent maturation period takes place in large barrels of lightly toasted French oak, where the wine rests for a year before bottling.
Consistent ruby red with violet reflections is the color of the Langhe Borgogno Barbera ‘Bompè’, which on the nose evokes broad and vivid aromas of berries and damask rose, combined with smoky hints and sweet spices like cocoa and carob flour. Intense and full-bodied flavor development, well balanced by lively freshness, good sapidity, and smooth tannins. Long and pleasant sensations of red fruits in the finish. Due to its significant structure, this Barbera is a perfect pairing with succulent first and second meat dishes or with aged cheeses.
