The Barbera d'Alba "Vignota" is a red wine aged for 10 months in barriques, with incisive aromas of violets, fruit in spirits, pepper, and sweet spices. The taste is soft and clean, with good freshness and smooth tannins.

The Barbera d’Alba “Vignota” by Conterno Fantino is an important version of this classic and popular red from the great Piedmontese tradition, aged in barrique for 10 months. The aging in wood gives the Barbera an elegant and harmonious profile, with a softer and more balanced sip. The exuberance of the fruit finds a perfect balance in the notes of tertiary evolution, which soften its typical varietal characteristics.

The “Vignota” by Conterno Fantino is born in the heart of the Langhe. The winery is located in the beautiful hilly area of Monforte d’Alba. Here, in addition to numerous versions of Barolo, Conterno also produces other traditional wines from the area. Barbera has always held a prominent place on Piedmontese tables, and Fantino Conterno wanted to reinterpret it in a version that could highlight its true potential, in the name of elegance and longevity. The grapes come from Guyot-trained vineyards with a density of about 5,500 plants per hectare, on calcareous-clay soils, with southeast and southwest exposures.at an altitude ranging from 200 to 400 meters above sea level. Fermentation takes place in horizontal stainless steel fermenters, with a skin contact fermentation lasting 6-8 days. It matures for 10 months in second-pass barriques to promote micro-oxygenation, without imparting wood aromas.

The “Vignota” Barbera from the Piedmontese winery Conterno Fantino is an interpretation that enhances the more mature and complex qualities of Barbera, showing how it can produce reds that are multifaceted, rich, and harmonious, without betraying varietal peculiarities. The color is bright ruby red. The aromas express notes of violet, aromas of cherry in spirit, spices, and licorice root. On the palate, it has a good structure, with soft and rich fruit, fine tannins, and a finish of balanced freshness.
