Bardolino Le Fraghe 2024

Bardolino Le Fraghe is a delicious and carefree red, a faithful ally to place on the everyday table. The story of Bardolino is a troubled one, similar to that of other amazing Italian wines mistreated by production aimed at quantity, which has jeopardized the credibility of certain grape varieties or denominations. Fortunately, thanks to true bastions of the territory, the course is often reversed, as in the case of Le Fraghe, the winery founded by Matilde Poggi, which today has about 28 hectares of vineyards dominated by local grape varieties such as Corvina, Rondinella, and Garganega. No shortcuts, just consistency and hard work, to obtain authentic and territorial wines that do not seek exaggerated concentration but rather favor drinkability and cross-utilization.

The red Bardolino is produced from a classic blend of Corvina and Rondinella, with grapes from 12-year-old vines facing south and grown organically. While in the vineyard the intent is to respect and preserve the vitality of the land and fruit, in the winery proceeds with equal care, with alcoholic fermentations that occur separately for the respective varieties and a maceration of 7-8 days on the skins, which precedes the malolactic fermentation. The liquid ages for 6 months in steel before bottling.

The Bardolino wine presents itself in the glass with its typical ruby dress edged with violet reflections. Joyful and fruity nose, characterized by hints of sour cherry, black pepper, and clove, returning a carefree profile but at the same time not lacking in complexity. Crunchy and delicious sip, a perfect fusion of freshness and soft structure, which continually invites to drink. Absolute must, especially at this price.
