Barolo "Broglio" Schiavenza is a robust and very intense red wine, aged fo 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels. With a ruby red color with garnet hues, the nose is deep, with elegant notes of wild rose, sweet jams and musk. The taste is soft, full, powerful, with great structure and tannins, and with persistent balsamic finish

The Broglio di Schiavenza is an austere and authoritative interpretation of Barolo, a true hymn to classicism. Producing wines that give voice to one of the most vocated territories in the world, without filters or manipulations: this has always been the intent of the Alessandria brothers, founders in 1956 of the Schiavenza winery, now succeeded by their son-in-law and winemaker Luciano Pira. The vineyards extend mainly in the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba, with 10 hectares of land, although 4 hectares in Monforte are also part of the vineyard park. Great respect for grape and territory, where no chemical or synthetic substances are used, followed by a cellar work consistent with spontaneous fermentations. Without fear of contradiction, one of the best quality-price ratios in the Langhe.

The red Broglio is obtained from pure Nebbiolo grapes, coming from a subzone of the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba called Broglio. The vines, which rest on clay-limestone soil, are located at an altitude of 360 meters with a southeast exposure. Allthe processes take place with the utmost respect for the fruit, therefore the harvest is done manually and after destemming and crushing the grapes, spontaneous fermentation begins, with maceration on the skins for about 15-20 days. The liquid ages for 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.

The Broglio wine reveals itself in the glass with the typical appearance of great Barolo, that is garnet edged with orange reflections. Austerity and gradual expressiveness is what the first olfaction suggests, for a liquid that tends to unfold little by little. With the right oxygenation, it does not skimp on notes of strawberry jam, dog rose, wilted violets, and clear balsamic puffs reminiscent of licorice and resin. On the palate, it does not hide its imposing muscular structure, where freshness and tannin dictate the rhythm of the sip. Powerful and long, the balsamic notes perceived on the nose are also found in the finish. A great bottle for lovers of "masculine" Barolos, as tradition dictates!
