Barolo 'Lu' Eugenio Bocchino 2018
ArtisanalBarolo "Lu" is a red wine with a noble and majestic soul, made in La Morra, in the heart of the Langhe. The olfactory timbre is refined and articulated, with notes of red fruit in jam, violets, aromatic herbs, spices, licorice, carnation, leather, sandalwood and balsamic memories emerge. The sip has power, balance and class, embroidered on a dense but well integrated tannin.
Eugenio Bocchino presents the Barolo Lu, a structured red capable of leaving a lasting impression thanks to its wonderful breadth and elegance. Within the renowned municipality of La Morra, in the heart of the Barolo area, the Bocchino family cultivates just over 5 hectares planted mainly with Nebbiolo, following a production philosophy that embraces the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. Choosing to limit treatments and not to use pesticides in a territory characterized by a predominantly humid climate represents a courageous choice, rewarding with genuine wines that are even more connected to the extraordinary and unique terroir of the Langhe.
The Barolo Lu by Eugenio Bocchino comes exclusively from Nebbiolo, as required by the production regulations, grown in the municipality of La Morra on clay and limestone soils located at 400 meters above sea level. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, while the alcoholic fermentation in steel is conducted by the indigenous yeasts naturally present on the skins of the grapes and in the winery environment. The long contact of the must with the skins lasts well 2 months, in order to extract all the noble components that the grape can offer. Once this phase of the winemaking process is completed, the wine is transferred to large used barrels, where it rests for 24 months before further aging in the bottle.
In the glass, the Barolo DOCG Eugenio Bocchino Lu expresses a fascinating intense garnet color. The nose reveals complex and evolved aromas of red fruit in jam and sweet spices, which combine with tertiary nuances of wood, leather, and menthol. A sip that is intense, velvety, and elegant, with a muscular body and roaring tannins. A classic and traditional Barolo, a true and noble expression of the Langhe to be enjoyed with succulent traditional dishes, such as hare in civet.
