'Bianco di Mitja' Sirk 2024
Artisanal'The White of Mitja' from the Sirk winery is a wine produced by the young Mitja, a talented winemaker who cultivates the lands around the family restaurant, La Subida. This white aims to represent the philosophy of the winery, which seeks to express the territory and the vintage to the fullest, with minimal intervention both in the vineyard and in the cellar. On the nose, there are evident hints of yellow fruit and flowers, with pleasant green notes and almond on the finish. On the palate, it presents a surprising nerve combined with the traditional salinity of the territory. The result is a wine of character, with a gentle frankness, ideal for pairing with traditional fish and meat dishes.
The ‘Bianco di Mitja’ by Sirk is a white wine made from pure Friulano grapes that stands out for its character and drinkability, the result of a production vision focused on enhancing this important indigenous variety. Friulano, native to the Collio area, has experienced fluctuating fortunes throughout history. Particularly appreciated for its fresh and fruity taste, as well as its characteristic almond finish, until recently Friulano was known by the name Tocai. However, due to a dispute with Hungary, which contested the excessive similarity of the word with Tokaji, a well-known Hungarian white wine, the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region was forced in 2008 to officially change the name of the grape variety to Friulano. Nonetheless, this has not erased the love of the Friulians for this traditional grape.
