The White Reserve LR is the most important and prestigious white wine of the Colterenzio winery, inspired by the legendary figure of Luis Raifer, the soul of the winery that brought it to success. It is made from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Sauvignon and is aged in wood for 1 year and another 3 years in bottle. With an elegant, creamy, and round body, seductive and deep, it is characterized by a rich and intense bouquet of honey, baked apples, exotic fruit, light spices, and hints of cocoa butter.
The Bianco Riserva “LR” by Colterenzio is a white wine seductive and of great elegance, both in content and presentation. Presentation that could almost seem superfluous for a winery like Colterenzio, a true institution regarding wineries in Alto Adige and beyond, given that thanks to the extraordinary elegance and complexity that characterizes the wines of the winery, it has achieved international fame. The winery is not family-run, but is a cooperative made up of about 300 families of producers, which embodies the spirit with which the Alto Adige reality was born, although in 1960 it only gathered 26 families. The decisive push was undoubtedly given by Luis Rafer, who in 1979, sensing the great potential of the area, decided to further focus on quality viticulture and limited yields. The label “LR” indeed carries his initials, and it is no coincidence that it is one of the deepest and most complex wines of the winery.
The Colterenzio Riserva “LR” is produced with a typical blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon, with clusters selected from vineyards located at an altitude of 400–550 m a.s.l. and cultivated with yields of just 35 hl/ha. In the vineyard, maximum attention is paid to the selection of the best clusters and the degree of ripeness of the grapes, which must be perfect. In the winery, alcoholic fermentation and aging in oak barrels are followed by a further 12 months of resting in the bottle. Only after 3 years after the harvest is the wine marketed.
The white wine “LR” Riserva presents itself in the glass with an intense and luminous straw-yellow color. The nose is rich, broad, and refined, with hints of exotic fruit, clarified butter, and delicate vegetal notes. On the palate, the liquid fills the mouth, taking possession of it, thanks to an important structure and a creamy and smooth texture.
