The Piedmontese cooperative winery Produttori di Carema introduces Carema Riserva 'Etichetta Bianca', a Nebbiolo with a mountain spirit capable of delighting the senses with its strong expressiveness. The Carema area, located in the extreme north of Canavese, close to the border with Valle d'Aosta, can boast a thousand-year-old winemaking tradition, made up of difficulties but also prestige. In fact, in the oenological guidebook of Pope Paul III Farnese's wine steward, dated 1539, Carema was defined as 'an excellent and perfect drink for princes and lords'. In recent times, due to the difficulty of cultivation caused by the steep slopes of the vineyards and the gradual abandonment of the countryside after World War II, the vineyard area of the denomination has been greatly reduced, which is why the few bottles of Carema produced represent a rare pearl.
Produttori di Carema 'Etichetta Bianca' Carema Riserva is a 100% Nebbiolo from vines cultivated on terraced land of morainic origin at altitudes of up to 650 metres. The vines are grown using the characteristic 'topia' system, a sort of pergola supported by stone pillars. The hand-picked bunches are vinified in red and then the wine is left to mature for a good three years, at least 12 months of which are spent in large oak barrels.
Carema Riserva 'Etichetta Bianca' by Produttori di Carema has a ruby red colour of medium intensity with garnet hues. Hints of roses, berries, balsamic herbs, liquorice and dried flowers characterise the nose together with roasted notes of coffee and perceptions of sweet spices such as cinnamon and cocoa. The taste, of fascinating structure and elegance, reveals a pleasant fresh-tasting thrust and perfectly integrated tannins.
