The Catarratto "Miano" from Cantina Castellucci Miano is a fresh and intense Sicilian white wine, born at the foot of the Madonie mountains, in a charming mountainous territory. It impresses with its citrus aromas, mature notes of exotic fruit, its rich and deep sip, accompanied by a vibrant saline freshness. It is one of the best expressions of the ancient indigenous grape variety Catarratto, widespread especially in western Sicily, which finds in the Valledolmo area a historically renowned zone of the island.
The white "Miano" is produced from old Catarratto vines predominantly cultivated as bush vines, at an altitude between 700 and 1050 meters above sea level in the districts of Castelluzzi, Rovittello, Miano, Sprella, Contrasto, Cifiliana, Acqua del corvo, and Sciarazzi, in the countryside of Valledolmo. The 75 hectares of vineyards are scattered in small plots in the mountainous area of the Madonie, where the vine still coexists with prickly pears, fruit trees, and olive trees, creating a landscape of great biodiversity and respect for nature.territory. The cool climate, with strong temperature variations between day and night and the medium-textured soils of sand and clay, with the presence of active limestone, have proven perfect for Catarratto. Fermentation takes place in steel, at a controlled temperature of 16 °C. The wine rests in steel tanks for about 3 months and completes its aging with a few months in the bottle before being put on sale.
