The Catarratto "Del Masso" by Feudo Montoni is an organic white wine vinified in cement, made from grapes sourced from vineyards located 700 meters above sea level. On the nose, it is fruity, with fragrant floral notes, mineral, and Mediterranean rosemary. On the palate, it is very fresh, with marine salinity, balanced, and persistent.

“Del Masso” by Feudo Montoni fully reflects the origin of its name, which refers to the vineyard from which the grapes come, presenting a massive block of sandy structure with red stones, a hue given by the strong presence of iron. This is one of the components that contribute to making this Catarratto such a distinctly characteristic wine, in the Montoni district, perched on the slopes of the heights of Cammarata, in the province of Agrigento. Feudo Montoni is a winery with ancient historical roots, working the grapes in a magical place and today has converted all its 20 hectares of owned vineyards to organic farming.

The vineyards of the Catarratto grapes of Feudo Montoni are located at 700 meters above sea level. Here the vines are old, over 55 years old, and all come from mass selection with wild plants grafted by hand, a practice now rare in its uniqueness and complexity. A fundamental testament also for generations to come. The training is bush-trained, the harvest is manual, and the bunches are delicately collected in boxes. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete tanks, and the must remains in contact with the skins for a quarter of the time. The aging is always in concrete on the lees for 6 months with batonnage.

The Catarratto “Del Masso” Feudo Montoni has a very bright straw yellow color. The memories of the “masso” are found in the pronounced minerality that reaches the nose, along with marine traces reminiscent of the sea of Sicily. Then intertwined and harmonious notes of white flowers and fruity notes arrive, with returns of fresh citrus linked to typically Mediterranean scents like rosemary. On the palate, it is a triumph of freshness and aromatic persistence, rhythmically balanced by a correct equilibrium supported by excellent sapidity. There exists a Sicily that is not just sea and flat expanses, that is not just Etna and Greek theaters: there are more hidden corners waiting to be discovered, like this wine.
