Champagne Extra Brut 'Eclats de Meulière' Jeaunaux Robin
ArtisanalChampagne Extra Brut "Eclats de Meulière" is an expression from Vallée du Petit Morin, a southern area in the Côte de Blancs cultivated in Pinot Meunier. It is a fresh, citrusy and mineral Champagne, aged on the lees for at least 24 months.
The Extra Brut “Eclats de Meulière” from the Jeaunaux Robin winery is a Champagne fresh, intense, and beautifully expressive produced in Talus-Saint-Prix, a small village located at the border between the Cô te de Blancs and the southernmost Cô te de Sézanne, in a unique and very characteristic area called Vallée du Petit Morin. It is a blend of grapes where Pinot Meunier, predominantly present, joins Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in a blend of great class. The vines, with an average age of about 40 years, are trained on trellises using the guyot and spurred cordon methods, on hills with soils characterized by clay-limestone soils rich in silica. The winery, owner of about 5 hectares of vineyards, is a small family-run maison currently managed, according to the principles of biodynamic philosophy, by Cyril Jeaunaux together with his wife Clémence Robin, united by a great passion and attention to respecting the traditions of the territory.
The “Eclats de Meulier” Champagne is produced with carefully selected grapesand hand-picked at the moment of perfect balance between acidity and sugar level. The bunches are taken to the winery where they undergo traditional pressing in a wine press and then alcoholic fermentation occurs, spontaneously using only indigenous yeasts, in stainless steel, glazed cement containers, and for about 25% in oak barrels over 10 years old. Once the base wine is obtained, only a part of it undergoes malolactic fermentation, after which blending is done with a small part of reserve wine and the liquer de tirage is added for re-fermentation in the bottle on the lees for at least 24 months. At the end of the second fermentation, disgorgement is carried out and the liquor d'expedition is added to reach the desired dosage level as per the extra-brut category.
The Extra Brut Champagne “Eclats de Meulier” presents itself with a bright straw yellow color and a fine, very persistent perlage. On the nose, elegant and fragrant aromas of crunchy fruit and citrus appear, including
